What HPLC measures
High-performance liquid chromatography pushes a dissolved sample through a packed column. Different components travel at different speeds and are detected as peaks. Purity is the main peak's share of the total peak area, shown on a chromatogram.
HPLC alone cannot prove identity. A sample can be very clean and still be the wrong sequence.
What mass spectrometry measures
Mass spectrometry ionizes molecules and measures their mass-to-charge ratio. The observed molecular weight is compared with the theoretical weight of the expected peptide. A match confirms identity.
MS alone does not quantify purity well. It confirms the target is present, not how much of the sample it makes up.
Why the standard is both
Together the two tests answer the questions a researcher needs settled before starting work:
- Is it the right compound? (mass spectrometry)
- How much of the sample is that compound? (HPLC)
- Does this data belong to the lot in my hands? (matching lot number)
What the standard should be, and how we meet it
The standard every supplier should meet
- A COA for every lot, not one generic report per product.
- Purity measured by HPLC, with the chromatogram shown.
- Identity confirmed by mass spectrometry.
- A lot number on the vial that matches the COA exactly.
- Realistic, honestly reported results.
What GoVida Labs does
- Every lot is tested by an independent, third-party laboratory in the USA.
- Each COA includes the HPLC purity chromatogram and a mass spectrometry identity check.
- Lot-specific COAs are published on our site so you can review them before you buy.
- The LOT on every vial label matches its COA.
- Reported purity and identity results are shown as tested, never rounded up.
- Questions about any report are answered by our team.
