Peptides in brief
A peptide is a chain of amino acids joined by peptide bonds. Chains are typically shorter than proteins, often between 2 and 50 residues. Their defined sequences make them useful tools for studying receptor binding, signaling pathways and cellular processes in controlled settings.
How research peptides are produced
Most research peptides are made by solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), where amino acids are added one at a time to a growing chain anchored to a resin. The crude product is then purified, usually by preparative HPLC, and lyophilized (freeze-dried) into a stable powder.
Why analytical testing matters
Synthesis can leave truncated sequences, deletion products or residual reagents. Reproducible research depends on knowing exactly what is in the vial, so each lot should be verified for identity and purity by an independent laboratory.
- Identity: confirmed by mass spectrometry against the expected molecular weight.
- Purity: measured by HPLC as the share of the target peptide in the sample.
- Traceability: the lot number on the vial should match the certificate of analysis.
Research use only
Materials sold as research peptides are intended strictly for laboratory and in-vitro research. They are not drugs, foods or cosmetics and are not for human or veterinary use.
What the standard should be, and how we meet it
The standard every supplier should meet
- A COA for every lot, not one generic report per product.
- Purity measured by HPLC, with the chromatogram shown.
- Identity confirmed by mass spectrometry.
- A lot number on the vial that matches the COA exactly.
- Realistic, honestly reported results.
What GoVida Labs does
- Every lot is tested by an independent, third-party laboratory in the USA.
- Each COA includes the HPLC purity chromatogram and a mass spectrometry identity check.
- Lot-specific COAs are published on our site so you can review them before you buy.
- The LOT on every vial label matches its COA.
- Reported purity and identity results are shown as tested, never rounded up.
- Questions about any report are answered by our team.
